Facile fabrication of high performance nanofiltration membranes for recovery of triazine-based chemicals used for H2S scavenging

The synthesis of tailormade thin-film composite (TFC) nanofiltration (NF) membranes produced by interfacial polymerization is presented for the separation unspent (MEA-triazine) and spent (DTZ) H2S scavengers obtained from an oil gas wastewater offshore installation in North Sea. physicochemical properties, thermal stability, hydrophilicity synthesized TFC were investigated using SEM, FTIR, XRD, TGA, contact angle. Filtration layer thicknesses 25 to 400 µm optimal value (100 µm) was determined, based on efficiency water permeability. Operating at 50% permeate recovery, rejections MEA-triazine monoethanolamine 62% 82%, respectively, obtained, with zero rejection DTZ. In 24 h batch recirculation tests, permeability remained stable 6 L/(m2·h·bar), indicating insignificant fouling 13 times higher compared 0.45 L/(m2·h·bar) achieved commercial NF270 membrane under comparable conditions. results indicate that NF mixtures spent/unspent tailored a promising strategy recovering MEA-triazine, thus reducing costs operators, while environmental impact associated discharge this wastewater.
